“There is something magical about making a doll, I love the whole process, from the raw materials to the moment that the character reveals itself somehow seems to take on a life of its own. As a child, I really believed that my toys came to life every time I left the room. As an adult I still enjoy the freedom and playfulness that being creative enables, I don’t plan ahead too much and often I find meaning and direction in my work along the way. The first doll I made about eight years ago, intentionally as a prop for my paintings, a way to act out and create a narrative, I have been making and selling them ever since. I have a degree in illustration and am a self taught painter and maker. I live in Cambridge with my husband and two children. I can usually be found working into the night while the house is quiet and often go to sleep at night with new characters dancing around my mind.”
